Yay! Got a mention in the RLC blog blog on myspacee! Thankyouu =) I will try to update it whenever I get any new stuff, watch this space!
So far, I think I've been listening to RLC for about a year and a half, and their music is fantastic! They were formed in 2007, and consist of Richard Frenneaux (vocals/guitar) Paul Mellon (guitar), Chris Edmonds (keys), Shawn Day (bass), and James Griffiths (drums).
Incredibly inspirational band with unique music, emotive lyrics, catchy upbeat rhythms, and a great style. First heard them as 'featured artist' on myspace at the end of 2007-good old myspace! =) For some Friday 13th is unlucky, but not for anyone who saw Red Light Company in Sheffield Friday 13th March 2009 -RLC @ Leadmill Sheffield They were supported by Grammatics and Dark Sparks, who were also good live bands. I didn't take a lot of long videos, I was way too caught up in the loud music and great atmosphere of the night, (especially as Arts & Crafts was introduced, the crowd were singing, moving and everyone was having a great time). It was a great night, although I think we were the youngest people there, most people were from the university, so we got pretty squashed in the queue! Hopefully from these videos you can tell that RLC are a great live band, well worth going to see!
The Alamo was the last song of the night, after having played Words of Spectacular, Scheme Eugene, With Lights Out, Arts and Crafts, New Jersey Television, Meccano, Bahnhof Zoo and The Architect, RLC left the stage. When they left, there was a lot of cheering and shouting from the crowd and they came back to play the final song.
New Jersey Television ♥ @ Leadmill
The Architect ♥ @ Leamill
This fantastic song has a great review from Leeds Music Scene.
'This song should be approached with caution, one listen you will be humming it for the next twenty-four hours. Solidly. Frenneaux's vocal rhythms are hypnotic, twisting endlessly around themselves and entangling the listener in the process. The final forty seconds are even worse, as 'The Architect's torturously catchy chorus is looped, and Frenneaux's relentless vocal whirlpools suck you in. Hellishly addictive.'-leedsmusicscene.net Full album review here
Bahnhof Zoo ♥ @Leadmill
I love this song, great tune and highly addictive, although I wonder where the title come from, since Bahnhof means train station in German.
With Lights Out ♥ @Leadmill
I think 'With Lights Out' has to have been one of the very first RLC songs, very catchy and addictive with great, emotive lyrics. The music video is quite dark and different to other videos, but it fits great with the song!
Their first album 'Fine Fascination' came out on March 2nd 2009 You can buy it from iTunes or HMV, and it can be downloaded from TuneTribe. It is described by guardian.co.uk as 'extravagantly catchy' I think it is a great album, something to listen to over and over again! Here it is explained track by track by Richard
They are currently on tour and doing lots of festivals this summer including V festival, Summersonic festival, Wakestock festival and many others, and last year they played at the legendary Glasto!
